“ My whole experience with Walter Peak has been extremely positive. The booking process online and the collection of the tickets prior to boarding was easy. The cruise on the 'TSS Earnslaw' was beautiful and a wonderful opportunity to see how this grand old ship is powered. On arrival at the sheep station we were greeted warmly and our group of ten adults escorted to our table. So organized and able to cope with the huge crowd! The service was exceptional, friendly and efficient. Although a buffet is not my usual choice of dining style, it was amazing with excellent quality and variety presented. Obviously the process of allowing a large number of guests to be served has been refined to allow for efficiency and comfort as one didn't ever need to join a long queue. The buffet showcased New Zealand dishes and produce and was delicious. Next we were escorted outside for the sheep and cattle dog demonstration which was fun, entertaining and informative. An excellent presentation. The trip back to Queenstown was a wonderful way to round off a fabulous experience.

8 years agoMy wife, our granddaughter (aged 17) and I went on the Dinner Cruise and Buffet Dinner to Walter Peak on New Year's Eve. I cannot speak too highly of our experiences throughout the evening. We were particularly impressed with the organisation behind the buffet dinner because our table for three was reserved with our name on a card so we did not have to rush, on a "first in, best dressed" basis, and tables were then staggered to go to the buffet, so we were able to proceed with decorum and the staff always had time for replenishment, as needed. On a value for money basis, I think it is exceptional. We also just love the ship - it is an education is itself just to travel over the lake on the TSS Earnslaw.
9 years agoThe dinner was excellent and the cruise and sing along on the return trip quite enjoyable. The sheep shearing was a bit if farce as the sheep got the better of the shearer. Perhaps he is getting a little old for the job.
9 years agoThe evening was absolutely fantastic. The choices we were allowed to make from the different and wide variety of food was fantastic, you were allowed to fill your plate as many times as you wanted. The staff were curtious and very friendly and go out of there way to help. A quiet and relaxing atmosphere. Very professional. The closing event within the shearing shed was very enjoyable and made the evening well worth doing again.
1 decade agoCruise is well worth it and a highlight of our trip to NZ. Homestead and gardens magnificent. Beautiful food, plenty of it and very well organised and run. Only criticism would be to deliver the drinks a bit earlier after taking order. Boat trip back was most enjoyable with the singalong.
1 decade agoAn enjoyable cruise up the lake followed by an excellent buffet. The food was delicious and plenty of it. Enjoyed the sheep shearing display and the dogs rounding up the sheep afterwards and the presenter was excellent. Joined in the sing song at the back of the boat next to the piano on the return journey. This was something I have not experienced elsewhere.
