Location

Watch Little Penguins dash across the sand at sunset with a visit to the Penguin Parade. The explore the boardwalks after dark to see, smell and hear Little Penguins in the colony returning home to their burrows, greeting neighbours and their chicks. While you’re here, make sure you keep an eye out for other local residents including Swamp Wallabies, Eastern Barred Bandicoots, Cape Barren Geese and Short-tailed Shearwaters.

Every visit to the Penguin Parade protects nature for wildlife. It means the Nature Parks rangers can revegetate and maintain Little Penguin habitat for penguins and visitors to enjoy.

You can choose from three viewing options at the Penguin Parade. Penguins Plus provides a more intimate experience with a smaller capacity and located right beside our main penguin highway from the ocean. General Viewing has excellent views of the Little Penguins waddling up the beach and into the colony.

Due to planned maintenance work, there may be a small disruption to your visit. The Guided Ranger platform will be undergoing construction between 14th June and 18th September 2024

Excellent experience, it was cold and windy when we visited, but if you rug up you will not regret visiting the penguin parade. A must-see for any animal lover while in Phillip Island. Take care to bring a face mask if you are visiting during covid restrictions.
A once-in-a-lifetime experience of the wonders of nature.

How can you have a bad experience when penguins are so cute

How can you have a bad experience when penguins are so cute! Purchasing and picking up tickets was EASY - just pick them up at the entrance. Make sure to wear WARM clothing, it gets chilly at night and the penguins didn't come out until it was very dark out. Make sure to spend some time at the boardwalk looking at the penguins they are more up close there.

Great experience

Great experience. Thanks, we booked in advance. It was sold out before we arrived. Entry and parking were excellent. Penguins arrived on time. Had heaps of time viewing on the beach and up close on the boardwalk. Perfect season. Educational and nature awareness for kids. Relaxing night out while on the Island.

The booking process was simple

The booking process was simple, and we got our tickets from the counter easily. The booking gave us all the instruction on how to call the centre to inform them about the booking. I booked and the called immediately and the centre already had my booking. Overall the process was simple and easy to use.

We booked the Phillip Island Penguin Parade General Admission tickets

We booked the Phillip Island Penguin Parade General Admission tickets. After booking the tickets, when you reach there, they will hand over the tickets on the counter. At the entrance, it says what time you can expect to see the Penguins. We went on December, 28 and the arrival time was around 9-05 pm. It was an amazing experience to view the little Penguins coming out of the sea and walking towards their home. In summary, simple to purchase and easy to use.

The whole event is well managed within impressive facilities

The whole event is well managed within impressive facilities. However, it is necessary to be there early to be assured of a good seat. Having obtained a good seat, there is then the double problem of the very confined seat becoming very uncomfortable through multiple hours of waiting while having little or no distraction from that discomfort. The best viewing, in my opinion, is not seeing the dimly lit distant view of the birds making landfall, but on departing the stands, viewing birds seeking their burrows behind the stands and beside the walkways.

It was lovely sitting on the bench while waiting for the penguins to arrive - looking at the sea and listening to the sound of the waves

It was lovely sitting on the bench while waiting for the penguins to arrive - looking at the sea and listening to the sound of the waves. Seeing the penguins very close in the boardwalk was amazing! They were very cute. Facilities were great! Lots of fun too for kids at the centre.

A must-go

A must-go! Great experience. I am not sure if the plus is worth the extra cost, though. The cafe is really crowded and the waiting time can be long. Please do bring thick clothing to keep yourself and kids warm. a few cups of hot chocolate can be helpful.

Was very nice

Was very nice. But had chosen the corners for viewing. The front centre place was hidden by peoples who were standing and kneeling and watching. Nice weather. Be sure to bring a jacket due to the cold wind. Better to be there at least 2 hours before. You can relax in the shopping area.

Amazing to see so many little penguins

Amazing to see so many little penguins! They are so cute. There weren't as many on this second trip as we saw last time we came (Oct 2015), but this was expected due to the time of year. What a wonderful job the park rangers do here to keep the penguins in their natural habitat as much as possible. Thank you!
